JHSPH Intensive Tobacco Control Summer Program
The Institute for Global Tobacco Control (IGTC) at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health will host an in-depth research and leadership training program in conjunction with the 13th World Conference on Tobacco or Health (WCTOH). Approximately 15 researchers selected from low- and middle income countries that have ratified the FCTC will be invited to join the program.Invitation to participant in the program includes the following financial support: travel scholarship (air tickets, housing and per diem for entire four week period), JHSPH Summer Institute registration, WCTOH registration, and a small research grant.

13th WCTOH Global Tobacco Control Fellows Program
The organizers of the 13th World Conference on Tobacco or Health (WCTOH) are again offering a Fellows programme in conjunction with the Conference.The Fellows program includes participation in a 2.5 day pre-conference training from July 9 - 11, registration for the WCTOH, round-trip economy air travel to Washington, DC, accomodation during both events, and a small per diem. Fellows are also eligible to apply for post-conference seed grants.

Measuring the Effectiveness of Tobacco Control - World Conference on Tobacco or Health Pre-Conference Workshop
The goal of the workshop is to introduce public health officials to standardized protocols for monitoring and evaluating the impact of tobacco control programs and policies.Conference attendees will learn about the International Tobacco Control Collaboration (ITC) multi-country and Global Tobacco Surveillance System (GTSS); protocols for monitoring secondhand smoke and tobacco products; strategies to adapt evaluation; and protocols to meet local needs and resource constraints. A limited number of travel scholarships are available for participants from low- and middle-income countries.

BREATH - The California Smoke-Free Bars, Workplaces and Communities
The American Lung Association of the East Bay-California announces the extension of its program, BREATH, to countries, states, provinces and territories worldwide needing materials, information and technical assistance on their journey toward smoke-free workplaces. BREATH, whose mission has been the education, implementation and enforcement of the California Smoke-Free Workplace Law has received numerous requests for assistance from jurisdictions throughout the world. In response to these requests, the American Lung Association of the East Bay will assist with resources and training including travel expenses on a limited basis to countries "in readiness" for smoke-free workplace education, implementation and enforcement strategies. In the recent past, BREATH has provided technical assistance and/or trainings to New York State, New York City, Norway, Sweden, India, Australia, Canada and numerous other American states and cities. CTCRE Postdoctoral Fellowships
Postdoctoral fellowships by the Center for Tobacco Control Research and Education (CTCRE) at the University of California allow for one to three years of supervised research experience in tobacco control with one or more members of the Center faculty. The application deadline is in January, with fellowships beginning the following July. CTCRE hosts fellows with a wide variety of backgrounds in science, medicine, political science, economics and history and welcome applicants with all sorts of backgrounds.
