Mentors: Is there a time requirement? No, the form of collaboration and time allocation are at the discretion of the mentor. Can I decline a request or stop an ongoing collaboration? Yes, the mentor is entitled decline a request, stop an ongoing collaboration, withdraw from the RAM program, or declare temporary unavailability at any time without providing an explanation. Can I offer my assistance to a project without being asked? Yes, you can offer your assistance to any of the projects posted on the site.

Researchers: Do I get to chose my mentor(s)? Yes, you can send a request for assistance to the expert you wish to work with. The experts are listed by their areas of expertise and in-depth profiles are available. Can I ask for help on more than one project? Yes, you can post up to three different projects. Can I keep my project files private? Yes, the program allows you to upload files onto secure sites where only collaborators have access.

 
RAM's role is to facilitate matching and initial connection of researchers in developing countries with their peer experts, and provide the two parties with the online tools necessary to facilitate their ongoing collaboration. The form, length, and intensity of collaboration initiated under RAM being the sole responsibility of the collaborative parties.

Mentors indicate their level of availability and may decline a request for assistance or terminate any ongoing collaboration without further explanation.

Researchers may decline an offer for assistance or terminate any ongoing collaboration without an explanation.

There is no restriction on the number of assistance requests a mentor can and decides to accept. However, researchers may only post up to 3 projects at a time and send up to 9 requests for assistance.

A request for assistance may be sent to different mentors for different aspects of a project.

 

The Research Assistance Matching project (Project RAM), is a joint developing-developed countries initiative that aims to help researchers in developing countries, who require research assistance, connect with experts willing to offer such assistance. RAM's role is to facilitate matching and initial connection of researchers in developing countries with their peer experts, and provide the two parties with the online tools necessary to facilitate their ongoing collaboration. The form, length, and intensity of collaboration initiated under RAM being the sole responsibility of the collaborative parties.
